Giglio Castello village of Giglio Island

It is hard to imagine finding, on a small island like Giglio, such a well-preserved ancient village as Giglio Castello. Listed among the "Most Beautiful Villages in Italy", it is a medieval town enclosed by walls where you can still breathe an authentic and magical atmosphere. Life flows at a slower, more natural pace, tied to the seasons. Here, everything is still on a human scale and the atmosphere belongs to another era. Traditional baskets and reed mats are still woven by hand, and the famous "Ansonico" wine is still harvested, together with a simple and genuine cuisine that celebrates a land deeply rooted in its traditions. Evenings in Giglio Castello offer pleasant surprises: they are cool and refreshing, and from the walk along the outer walls you can enjoy breathtaking views, spotting the other islands of the Archipelago and the mainland, as well as stunning sunsets with warm colors. It is also delightful to explore on foot (cars are left outside the walls) the narrow alleys and small squares animated by shops and restaurants where good cuisine is guaranteed. Even more enjoyable is discovering the warm and genuine hospitality of the local residents. Giglio Castello is just 5 minutes by car from all coves and beaches.
